Estimate 3-month mortality and transplant priority.
MELD uses creatinine, bilirubin, and INR to predict 3-month mortality in end-stage liver disease. MELD-Na adds serum sodium for improved accuracy. Scores range 6–40. MELD is used by UNOS for liver transplant allocation. Creatinine is capped at 4.0 and set to 4.0 if on dialysis. Higher scores indicate greater urgency for transplant.
