What Is the BAI?

The Body Adiposity Index was developed as a BMI alternative that does not require weight measurement. It uses hip circumference and height to estimate body fat percentage. It was validated in Mexican-American and African-American populations.

  • Men: 8–19% (athletes) | 19–25% (healthy) | >25% (overweight)
  • Women: 21–33% (healthy) | >33% (overweight)
