Standard sod roll: 2 ft × 5 ft = 10 sq ft
Standard sod rolls are 2×5 ft (10 sq ft); a pallet covers approximately 450-500 sq ft (45-50 rolls). Order 5-10% extra for cutting waste, especially for irregular shapes. Preparation: grade soil, add 2-4" of topsoil, rake smooth, and moisten before laying. Lay sod in a brick-bond pattern (stagger joints). Press edges tightly together — no gaps or overlap. Roll with a lawn roller after installation. Water immediately: 1" of water to soak through sod into soil. Water daily for 2 weeks, then taper to normal schedule. Avoid walking on new sod for 2-3 weeks. First mow when grass reaches 3-4" (usually 2 weeks). Best times to sod: early fall or spring.
