Posts, wire runs, and materials for pasture fencing.
Livestock fencing requirements vary by animal: cattle need 4-5 strands of barbed wire or high-tensile at 42-48" tall with posts every 8-12 ft. Horses need board fence or smooth wire (no barbed) at 54-60". Sheep/goats need woven wire (field fence) at 48" with posts every 8 ft. A half-mile perimeter (2,640 ft) encloses about 40 acres if square. Corner and gate posts should be larger (6-8" diameter) with bracing. Add 10% extra wire for waste and tensioning. Electric fence is the most cost-effective option for rotational grazing — one hot wire can contain trained cattle at a fraction of the material cost.
